Sheer Magic

If there is one thing to be seen in over the Christmas party season is sheer sleeves.  Im currently style crushing over this embellished dress from Dorothy Perkins. Their site describes it as follows:  ”Get noticed in this elegant little black dress featuring all-over embellishment detailing on a mesh overlay, long sleeves and a zip-up fastening at the back. It’s sure to add sleek and glamour to your party wardrobe.”

Oh and this top from French Connection which would look super cute with heels and a faux leather skirt. In which FC say you need to ”Prepare to turn heads in a heavily embellished semi-sheer top. Wear with a leather pencil skirt and pointed toe heels for an ultra-glamorous get-up.”

Personally, I am having a total trend love with anything and everything sheer. It’s the perfect way to highlight your best features, camouflage your least favourite areas, and create a totally fashionable look.Want to show some skin but still stay covered up? Then it’s time to get trendy with sheer details. Going sheer can give your outfit plenty of bold sex appeal.  Sheer doesn’t have to look scandalous or risqué, when it’s worn as a layering piece it can look demure as modelled by @poorlilitgirl.

Use sheer clothing to add texture to a monochromatic outfit.  Wearing one colour head-to-toe helps all the elements blend together so the sheerness of any one piece is less noticeable.Use embellishments to make sheer fabrics feel less exposed and showing too much flesh.  Embellishments create visual interest, which tricks the eye and gives the illusion of greater coverage. When you just want to show a hint of skin, a sheer panel or insert will do the trick. Look for a sheer sleeve, neckline detail or stripe across the bottom of a skirt or dress to be stylish and demure.

Sheer panels can make a basic skirt a lot more stylish and fun. With a simple pair of heels, it’s yet another way to make sheer work at the office.Prints make sheer fabrics seem less transparent. The busier the print the harder it is to see through, so you don’t have to think so much about what you’re wearing underneath.Choose pieces with sheer panels that won’t expose your underwear. If strapless bras aren’t an option for you, choose something nude with a simple strap and then look for sheer fabrics with a little texture or print to obscure the straps underneath.
