I know, I know, from my Twitter Feed you could suggest that is has all been sun, sea and sand for The British Fashionista in Portugal, well, it has not. There is rain in paradise. And whilst I await the return of the sun from behind the clouds I thought I would bring you my ideal rain outfit, a collect of the swish and the select, the beautiful and the bold.
Not everyone likes to wear hats. Personally floppy sun hats and fascinators at the races is as far as I go, but if I had to choose a chapeau to keep my hair dry as I skip from shop to shop on the Champs Elysee, then it would be the Eric Javit’s rain bucket hat available from all those lovely big New York department stores Nordstrom/Saks/Bloomingdales/Macys/ with this one from Nordstrom.
With the hair dry, the rest of me will need an umbrella. This is almost essential in London, unless you like to go for the permanent WET LOOK. I have had the same umbrella for as long as I can remember, it has lasted me well, despite the wind gusting between the glass monoliths of the Square Mile, but if I had to choose a new one it would be a. Coach. b. Designed with a wrist band, so I can hold other things without need for a spare pair of hands, and c. Animal print.
This snakeskin print umbrella in blue is available from Amazon and I love it.
And so onto the real deal. Zoe Saldana’s has flashed this baby around the States a few times. It is absolutely gorgeous. The McQueen Herione is a beautiful, classic design. I prefer the quilted look to the plain calf skin, and it is one of those purchases, you know, the once a year purchases at £1525. Guaranteed to keep everything dry, as well as looking utterly A-MAZING!
The trench is always going to be in our wardrobes in London, Paris, New York. It is a staple. Which reminds me, I must write a Must Haves about it. This one is a stylish effort from the man responsible for 60% of the bags I see in the City, Michael Kors and is available from House of Fraser.
Embellished tights are this year’s hottest trend in hosiery. I love these honeycomb pattered tights from Pretty Polly and available through our friends at ASOS.
And finally the Marc Jacobs wellies. They are so Chanel with the printed quilting. I love them and would happily go for both colours, and plum, if they had it too.
Keep calm and STAY DRY, and if you can’t stay dry, dear fashionista, then STAY STYLISH!
