I love living in my denim jeans, I swear by them, you can dress them up or down. They can be worn for shopping in the day or a night out on the town. So when it comes to finding a new pair, I am all about getting the fit just right. Agonising over your options in a fitting room isn’t necessarily fun for anyone, so if the prospect of finding a new favourite pair has you feeling overwhelmed, read on to find the best fit. See also my post on shapes I have listed down the different styles, supplying you with fit suggestions and where to buy the best buys on the high street.

Skinnies: Skinnies are square through hips, fitted through leg with a skinny, ankle-hugging opening. BEST FOR: All shapes — whether you have hips, curves, or straight. STYLE IT RIGHT: If you have curves and want to slim down, pair with a jumper to highlight the skinniest part of your legs. Skinnies are the best for tucking into boots.

OASIS. Wide leg: High-waisted jeans sit super high at the smallest point of the waist and are slim fit through the hips; they can be skinny or flared at bottom. The high-rise lends a retro vibe. BEST FOR: Boyish shapes that want to accentuate curves; a fit like this hugs the hips and cinches the waist, creating or emphasizing an hourglass shape. STYLE IT RIGHT: Show off a tiny waist with a belt to cinch the look together.

VICTORIA BECKHAM Boyfriend: Sit low and straight through the hips, with a looser, relaxed fit from the thigh through the knee and calf. Supposed to mimic men’s jeans. BEST FOR: Everyone; boyfriend jeans work for just about any body. The key is finding the right proportions on the rise, not too low and not too high, and keeping the fit just tight enough. You want them to look relaxed, but you’ll lose your shape entirely in a pair that’s too baggy. STYLE IT RIGHT: Boyfriend jeans lend themselves both to heels and flats. They look best cuffed just above the ankle, with slim tops tucked in to help define the waist.

TOPSHOP Flare: Sits just below the natural waist, slim fit through the hips, with an exaggerated flare below the knee. BEST FOR: Any shapes, especially curvier bodies. The flare helps to balance hips and creates a long, lean shape. STYLE IT RIGHT: Boot cuts look best styled with a heeled boot, pumps, or sandal. They’re a classic style that works dressed up with slinky tops or dressed down with a simple tee. They should skim the ground; anything too long should be hemmed.

UNIQLO Super Skinny – Jeggings. This is the combination of leggings and jeans. They fit like leggings but look like jeans. BEST FOR: More petite frames as they are extremely figure hugging. STYLE IT RIGHT: Show off with over the knee high boots with a biker jacket for that effortless chic.
